Marty Pompadur graduated from Williams College and from the University of Michigan Law School.  He began his career as a practicing attorney in Connecticut but quickly entered the media field when he joined American Broadcast Companies, Inc. in 1960.  He remained at ABC for 17 years, culminating with his position as a member of the Board of Directors.  While at ABC, Mr. Pompadur held the positions of General Manager of the Television Network, Vice President of the Broadcast Division, and President of the Leisure Activities Group, which included ABC Publishing, Records, Music Publishing and Motion Picture Theatres.

Mr. Pompadur left ABC in 1977 and became President of Ziff Corporation, a position he held until 1982.  Ziff Corporation was the holding company for both the Ziff-Davis Publishing Company, then one of the world’s largest publishers of special interest and business publications, and the Ziff-Davis Broadcasting Company, which operated six network-affiliated television stations.

From 1983 until 2007, Mr. Pompadur was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of RP Companies’ various private and public limited partnerships which operated television and radio stations and cable television systems. 

Effective June 1998, Mr. Pompadur became Executive Vice President of News Corporation, President of News Corporation Eastern and Central Europe and a member of News Corporation’s Executive Management Committee.  In January 2000 Mr. Pompadur was appointed Chairman of News Corp. Europe, a position he held until he resigned in November 2008.

He is a principal owner of Caribbean International News Corporation which publishes El Vocero a Spanish language daily newspaper in Puerto Rico; the principle owner of Montana Coffee, a company in the wholesale coffee business in Russia; an investor in various private companies includingTalent Partners a payroll company and Seatwave, a London based ticket reseller.  He also is a board member of Nexstar a publicly listed U.S. television station company.

Mr. Pompadur now is involved in several new projects, including Chairman of Metan Development Group, a company engaged in various television activities in China, Russia and other international markets. He is also a senior advisor to News Corporation and Oliver Wyman.
