Award-winning, former NBC News producer Stephanie Giambruno serves as Senior Producer, China for Metan Development Group.
Reporting to Metan’s Barbara Wellner, Vice President of Programming and Rick Portin, Vice President of Production, Ms. Giambruno is charged with overseeing and supervising all original production originating from Metan's China office, with a special focus on Metan's Hello! Hollywood series.
Most recently, Ms. Giambruno worked as a freelance feature and news writer/producer for NBC News’ Beijing bureau providing coverage for all network news programming including Nightly News, Today Show, NBC Sports, MSNBC and CNBC. In 2008, she provided extensive coverage of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing for the network. She has lived and worked in Beijing for the past four years.
From 1999-2005, she served as a staff producer for NBC’s Today Show where she wrote and produced award-winning news and feature segments for the top-rated national daily morning show. Highlights of her time at Today Show include Summer Olympic coverage in Athens, Greece in 2004, traveling around the world for special programs such as "Where in the World is Matt Lauer?” and working closely with Katie Couric producing Today Show’s special Colon Cancer Awareness Series. She was also one of the producers responsible for the production of Today’s 50th anniversary show and was an overnight producer/writer during the first weeks of the network’s 24 hour coverage of the Iraq War.
Prior to this, Ms. Giambruno worked in production at ABC News’ Good Morning America from 1994-1999. During her tenure at ABC, she covered many significant stories and events, including both 1996 political conventions, the OJ Simpson Murder trials, the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in Israel, the Oklahoma City bombing, the TWA 800 tragedy, the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the Columbine High School shooting, and the Handover of Hong Kong. She was also part of the production team for Diane Sawyer’s 1996 interview with Michael Jackson for Primetime Live.
She has received many prestigious awards, including a National Headliner Award for Best Feature Story and the N.Y.A.B.J. Griot Award for Excellence in 2005, as well as an NBC News Ovation Award in 2003. In 2005, she was nominated for a Prism Award, as well as an Emmy Award for Outstanding Feature Story. She was also recognized for “Outstanding Contribution” by the President of NBC News in 2002.
